Description :Often, there is no need to buy new things. It’s hard on your wallet and bad for the environment. WhoGotStuff is a mobile application that enables old market behaviours (giving, borrowing, repairing, reusing) with your network of friends and family. You already do these old market interactions right now with your 5 closest family or friends. We have a way to make these interactions a lot more convenient and engaging so that you can easily share with your extended social network. The aim is to reduce Hong Kong’s landfill waste, promote recycling and increase goodwill amongst an individual’s social network (and thus in communities as a whole). For our beta launch we are partnering with a community of freecyclers with 67,000 members (“Oh Yes It’s Free” community). Initially, we will focus on parents who typically have limited space at home being taken up by perfectly good, out-grown baby items. In later stages, with expats who typically move homes often and have problems of what to do with their furniture/items. Our idea has wide appeal, which is why we are in the process of discovering the best balance of product features to market value. Once we find the right mix of features and a workable revenue generation model, we would look to expand to other major cities. HK is a great test market because of the limited storage space, high smartphone penetration and the convenience of our mtr system for easy exchange. We discovered that giving things away and re-cycling in HK is too difficult. Plus our competitors like AsiaExpat and others are online-desktop apps, rather than mobile apps which is how most people nowadays interact. So we have positioned ourselves in a unique position – a mobile app that facilitates de-cluttering, sharing, exchange, and promote ecofriendly actions.
