CHAIRMAn’S STATEMEnT

主席的話

Among those who enjoy this world-class infrastructure are the

companies at our popular co-working Smart-Space facilities at

Cyberport. Launched in 2009, Smart-Space provides ready-built

accommodation, private rooms, workstations and flexi-space

arrangements for more than 200 companies at very affordable

rates. During the review period, we launched the 10,000 square feet

Smart-Space 2 and within 6 months after its launch, Smart-Space IT

Street and Smart-Space 3C, adding another 15,000 square feet of

space to meet the growing demand of co-working space users. To

facilitate the growth of ICT start-ups, we have started the

construction of the fifth Smart-Space which is on schedule to be

opened in September 2014.

This rapid increase in co-working spaces at Cyberport reflects our

determination to assist start-ups by providing them with world-class

facilities and support. In the future, we will continue to look at other

cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure that will accelerate

cooperation and collaboration in our community.

Another addition to our infrastructure during the year was our

Mobility Experience Centre (MEC), built in partnership with the

Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association to promote

the mobile industry. This permanent non-profit-making centre

showcases mobile technologies with a strong focus on apps

developed in Hong Kong. Open to members of the public, MEC is

designed to facilitate the growth of the ICT industry both in Hong

Kong and across the region.

Award for Corporate Governance

As a public body, we are highly cognisant of our obligation to

operate in a transparent and fully accountable manner. Therefore,

we were especially pleased when our commitment to good

corporate governance was recognised by the Hong Kong Institute

of Directors (HKIoD) during the review period. HKIoD not only

granted our Board the prestigious “Directors of the Year Awards

2013” but also the inaugural “Excellence in Board Diversity“

commendation. Both awards acknowledge our Board’s outstanding

corporate governance as well as its responsible and effective

leadership.

This was the first time the Board has received these awards, and I

am confident they will inspire us to attain even higher standards of

performance, transparency and accountability to our stakeholders

and the community in Hong Kong.

作成立，專為推廣移動通訊業而設的香港移動

體驗中心。這個非牟利的永久性流動科技中心

重點介紹香港研發的應用程式。香港移動體驗

中心開放給公眾人士使用，旨在促進香港和亞

太區的

ICT

行業發展。

企業管治獎項

作為一家公共機構，數碼港清楚明白必須以公

開透明和高度問責的方式營運。數碼港董事局

尤其感到欣慰堅持良好企業管治獲得香港董事

學會的肯定。董事局不僅獲香港董事學會頒發

2013

年度「傑出董事獎」，同時獲得新設的「董

事會多元化卓越嘉許」。兩項獎項印證董事局在

企業管治方面表現突出以及發揮負責任而高效

的領導。

這是董事局首次獲得上述獎項，本人深信這些

獎項有助鞭策我們在爭取表現、保持透明度和

對持份者及香港社會各界問責上精益求精。
