Cyberport Internship Programme
Application Opens on 1 February 2013
What is Cyberport Internship Programme?
We offer students to gain valuable experience and training during the summer/spring vacation or for a longer period (e.g. 12 months) as part of their curriculum requirement. Each selected candidate will be assigned a specific project and a mentor. Each project will have well defined deliverables, providing students with practical experience and learning objectives.
To join us, you need to have:
- A valid permit to work in Hong Kong SAR
- A bachelor or advanced degree studentship continuing a full-time university degree course after the internship
- Good academic results with a GPA of 3.0 or above, or equivalent
- University endorsement that the internship programme is a part of the curriculum
- Good communication skills
- A good team player
- Available full-time during the internship period

Cyberport is a creative digital community with a cluster of technology and digital content tenants. It is managed by Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited which is wholly owned by the Hong Kong SAR Government. Engineer II (Ref# ENG-TCII0401)
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a team environment to provide support on cloud computing infrastructure installation and cloud management solution; support handle users application in the cloud platform
- Provide support to the enhancement plan on IT and cloud infrastructure system
- Provide IT support to both in-house and external users
- Ensure continuous IT operations and maintain network security through appropriate maintenance and support for all servers and network equipment as well as peripherals
- Liaises with equipment suppliers and service personnel with respect to warranties and servicing
- If not done by an outside vendor, fabricates, installs, troubleshoots and tests equipment and systems
- Liaises with third party partners in the provision of field services, network services, data storage and distribution services
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor degree or above in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or other technical qualifications
- At least three years relevant experience in providing technical support and network engineering
- Prior experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Xen, KVM; preferable worked with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Eucalyptus cloud based platforms
- Experience on scripting would be a plus, i.e. Bash, Python or Perl
- Being proficient with computer systems used in multimedia production
- First-hand experience with various technologies including cloud computing, operating systems, networking and telecommunications
- Good knowledge of network (LAN, WAN and Wireless), Linux operation, Windows and protocol (BGP, RIP, OSPF)
- Good communication & interpersonal skills.
- Able to provide interesting and practical insights on technology development in products and solutions

Engineer I (Ref# ENG-TCI0401)
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle live broadcast transmission
- Direct support of onsite AV production operation of the events (including pre- and post- production)
- Assist studio production upon request
- Provide expert-level maintenance, installation and repair of broadcast and information technology equipment in all technical areas
- Act as a team lead/mentor to other engineers
- Demonstrate competency in a wide variety of technology and business contexts
- Perform hardware/equipment/peripherals repair and maintenance for broadcast servers, telecommunications equipment, data and LAN infrastructure
- Coordinate in project planning, execution and documentation
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Multimedia Production/ Film & Video Production/ Graphic Design
- At least 6 years’ relevant experience in AV production; editing and post-production
- Experience in training and production environment; live broadcast / streaming
- Proficiency in video editing and compositing system (Avid, Final Cut Pro, After Effect, Premiere & Photoshop)
- Knowledge of Stereoscopic 3D production is a plus but not necessary
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
- Strong sense of responsibility and good interpersonal skills
- Willing to work overtime and on public holidays; occasionally outdoor work required.

Requirements:

Assistant Manager – IT Operations (Ref# AM-ITO0302)
Reporting to the Senior Manager – IT Operations, you will be accountable for:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Manager - ITO to manage the operation of the Network Operation Centre (NOC) to ensure all IT&T services are provided in a coordinated, effective and complementary manner.
- Coordinates and supervises engineering staff of NOC to ensure adequate technical support for the Cyberport, provides hands-on IT support to both in-house and external users where necessary.
- Maintain effective security/backup and disaster recovery processes and systems.
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and service personnel with respect to warranties and servicing;
- Liaise with third party partners in the provision of field services, network services, data storage and distribution services
- Make recommendations for enhancements and changes in infrastructure design and operations, and may implement changes and enhancements.
Requirements:
- Degree or above in Computer Science or related disciplines
- At least six years relevant experience in technical support and network engineering. Rich experience in various technologies including operating systems, networking, telecommunications and data center operation and experience in video engineering; digital video and audio engineering.
- Experience on Windows and Linux Platform, Database (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.), Programming (PHP, Java, .NET, PLSQL, VBA, etc.) including Windows Active Directory knowledge and network solution (Cisco routers/switches/hubs).
- Experience on cloud computing platform (Hyper-V, KVM, etc) is a strong plus.
- Proven track record in delivering outstanding customer service.
- Proven track record in effective project management.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude and able to work under pressure
- Responsible on reporting to related parties, good communication and interpersonal skills
- Immediate available is highly preferred
